Privileges and Benefits for Emeriti Faculty

SUNet ID

As a Stanford University faculty  emeritus, you are eligible for a "regular" SUNet ID, free of charge. A SUNet ID identifies you as a current member of the Stanford community. You have the privilege to use the computer resources email service, web pages, etc. You will use your SUNet ID to identify yourself to those services. Other resources that you can access with your SUNet ID include dial-in services, file servers, and site-licensed software.

Stanford ID Card

When retiring, your Faculty/Staff ID card should be turned in to the ID Card Office and a replacement Emeritus ID Card will be issued.  Contact the ID Card Office at (650) 498-2273 for any questions. The ID Card Office is located at Tresidder, 459 Lagunita Drive.. Hours are weekdays 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.  Please be sure to bring identification with you (i.e., a driver's license).

There is a $25 fee for a replacement card; however, if you never received a card, you should speak with the supervisor to explain your circumstances.

The ID card serves as your personal identification, and should be carried at all times while on campus. Your ID card will be required whenever you use the usual privileges of eligible faculty, including the following:

  • Library access and borrowing
  • Access to recreational facilities
  • Stanford Bookstore microdisc discounts
  • Use of Faculty Staff Housing services for off-campus housing

Parking & Transportation

To receive your free campus parking privileges (“A” sticker), call (650) 723-9362 or stop by the Parking and Transportation Office located at 340 Bonair Siding, open weekdays 7:30 am – 5:00 pm.   You can also contact them through the Parking & Transportation Office website.

Bookstore

Present your Stanford ID Card at the Stanford University Bookstore, located in White Plaza, to receive discount on books and software. Please call the Bookstore for more information at (650) 329-1217. You can also contact them through the Stanford Bookstore website.

Libraries

Your ID card is for use at the University Libraries. The major libraries are the University Libraries System (including Green and Meyer Libraries), the Hoover Institution Library, the Lane Medical Library, the Jackson Library of Business, the Robert Crown Law Library and the SLAC Library.

Stanford Lively Arts

The Stanford Lively Arts brings to campus a series of world-class events in music, dance and theatre.  Contact Stanford Lively Arts at (650) 725-ARTS (2787) or by email at ticketorders@stanford.edu. The Stanford Ticket Office is located on the ground floor of Tresidder Memorial Union on the Stanford campus. Office hours are weekdays, 10:00 am – 5:00 pm and Saturday, noon – 4:00 pm. Recreation

Your Stanford ID card is required to use many of the athletic facilities on campus.

Continuing Studies

Stanford Continuing Studies offers a broad range of courses, seminars, and workshops, primarily in the liberal arts, designed to enhance the learning and enrich the lives of people in the Bay Area. Courses are taught by Stanford instructors and are open to all members of the community.

Faculty Staff Housing

Faculty Staff Housing provides a variety of programs and information to the Stanford Community.
